Redmond Street Kitchen

Redmond Collective Action, a grassroots group of volunteers, organizes and puts on the Redmond Street Kitchen every Sunday morning for our houseless neighbors on Redmond’s east side. The Street Kitchen serves a hot meal, between 75-90 sack lunches, and hosts a mutual aid table(s) with supplies (camping gear, hygiene items, pet food and clothes, etc.).

Redmond Mutual Aid collects donations of funds, supplies, and food and drink items to support the street kitchen, as well as similar organizations serving other camps throughout Central Oregon. We launder donated camping gear and clothing, pour donated large bottles of toiletries, perfume, hand sanitizer, etc. into smaller bottles (which we purchase out of our own pockets), and put together sewing kits, laundry kits, and other items as requested by camp residents.

What can you do?

Supporting the popup kitchen can be as easy as adding a box of fruit snacks or a case of soda to your grocery cart, baking a batch of muffins or cookies on the weekend, picking up the casseroles at Family Kitchen in Bend, or cleaning out all your extra toiletries underneath your bathroom sink. It could include coming out to serve a hot meal and hand out sack lunches and visit with our houseless community members, but there are actually lots of different ways you can help, even from your own car or living room.

Whether you have a disability that limits your energy, movements, or communication; or a mental health challenge like anxiety that means you feel more comfortable working solo from home, chances are, there’s a way for you to get involved.
